Vocational Rehabilitation

Mission: ASVRP will provide culturally appropriate vocational rehabilitation services to American Indians whose disabilities are impediments to employment.

Goal: ASVRP will provide culturally appropriate vocational rehabilitation services to American Indians with physical and/or mental disabilities who reside on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, consistent with their individual strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities and informed choices so they may prepare for, maintain or engage in gainful employment including self-employment or business ownership.

The Tribal Voc-Rehab Office is located in the Old BIA Building and is open from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM - Monday through Friday.

A VR Counselor will be in the following areas for Outreach Office Hours during these days:

Frazer @ the Tribal Elders Nutrition Center - bi-monthly on Mondays

Wolf Point @ the Job Services Office - bi-monthly on Tuesdays

Fort Kipp @ the Community Hall - bi-monthly on Thursdays Hours: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Objectives & Outcomes: ASVRP will accept approximately 50 applications per year and expects to accomplish the following objectives and outcomes.

Year 1 - ASVRP will serve 35 new eligible consumers with 10 successful closures (Status 26's).

Year 2 - ASVRP will serve 40 new eligible consumers with 12 successful closures (Status 26's).

Year 3 - ASVRP will serve 45 new eligible consumers with 14 successful closures (Status 26's).

Year 4 - ASVRP will serve 50 new eligible consumers with 16 successful closures (Status 26's).

Year 5 - ASVRP will serve 50 new eligible consumers with 18 successful closures (Status 26's).

Strategies & Activities:

1) ASVRP has hired four employees who are enrolled tribal members, three of which have disabilities.

2) ASVRP follows the State VR Agencies case management plan while providing a wide scope of VR services including Native American Healing Ceremonies, guidance and counseling upon request.

3) ASVRP consumers are actively involved in their Individualized Plans for Employment by choosing a suitable employment outcome, which VR services will be required to complete the IPE, and which cooperating agencies will provide comparable services to enhance ASVRP's services.

4) ASVRP has developed an Advisory Board that is consumer driven to ensure involvement and participation by community members to assist in program development.
